About me

After a year of piano lessons from the age of 7, I decided that I also wanted to play the trumpet and was soon performing in numerous wind bands, orchestras and big bands and competing in festivals as a soloist. At the age of 15 I was asked to play a solo part for Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto with the Darlington and Dales Youth Orchestra, which was performed at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival and the Swaledale Festival.

I completed a music degree at the University of York where I was a member of many department ensembles including the University of York Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonietta. Highlights included performing Verdi’s Requiem in York Minster and Bernstein’s Wonderful Town in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall.  I also performed with the University of York Opera Society, the Chimera Ensemble, and was a member of a big band playing a wide repertoire of classic swing and big band standards to modern arrangements of popular, funk and film music.

I received trumpet lessons from Tim Barber at the University of York and Murray Greig from the Royal Northern College of Music. Their vast experience and skills were instrumental in helping me to develop into an advanced trumpet player.

My freelance work includes performing at weddings and other occasions on either trumpet, piano or organ.  I currently play in local orchestras and ensembles – from a Baroque chamber group to a Tea Dance Orchestra! Please contact me for a full music resume.
